Monday Night Football Betting: Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Atlanta Falcons

Monday Night Football!  This week features a match-up between two teams who are jockeying for playoff position.  One of them has their spot locked in, but the other one is still fighting for that Wild Card spot, but are in a very good spot to lock it up.  The New Orleans Saints are 11-3 and are led by the incredible play of quarterback Drew Brees, who could potentially be breaking some records this season.  The Saints have won six games in a row and look to be poised for another Super Bowl run this season.  In the last meeting between these two teams, the Saints went on the road and pulled out a three point win, 26-23.

The Atlanta Falcons on the other hand have been strong down the stretch, and are 9-5 overall.  What’s interesting about this game for them, is that if they pull off the win on the road, they’ll lock up one of those final playoff spots.  The Falcons have won four of their last five games, and it’s tough to bet against this strong offense of Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Michael Turner, regardless of if they are on the road or not.

This game is on Monday night of course, and the kickoff is set for 8:35pm EST.  This game should be a shootout, and will be one of the best games of the weekend hands down.

Atlanta Falcons: +6.5

New Orleans Saints: -6.5

Man this is a tough call, probably one of the toughest of the whole weekend.  Both teams are playing incredibly well right now, and both have things to play for.  On top of that, anytime that you put New Orleans on prime time television at home, you know you’re in for a treat.  That is exactly why I’m going to pick the Saints to get the job done here, but I definitely don’t think it will be nearly as easy as people may be expecting.  I like Atlanta to keep it close throughout, and Drew Brees and company to get the job done.  New Orleans by 3 on Monday night.

Prediction:  New Orleans Saints- 34 Atlanta Falcons- 31

Free Pick

The fact that the Saints are at home is going to scare a ton of people in terms of betting this game, but don’t overlook this Falcons team. On top of that, definitely don’t overlook the fact that they have a ton to play for on Monday night.  The Falcons will be in the playoffs regardless, but they will be all out in this one; not only because of their playoff chances, but also because this is a huge rivalry.  Anytime the Falcons and Saints match up, it leads to an intense game, and this one won’t be any different.  Even though I think that the Saints are going to get the job done, I still think that Atlanta is more than good enough to be able to cover on the road against this Saints team.  I’m picking Atlanta to get the cover.

Pick:  Atlanta Falcons +6.5

NFL Week 16 Betting: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Dallas Cowboys

In what is potentially the biggest match-up in all of the week 16 NFL games, we see the Philadelphia Eagles heading on the road to play one of their biggest rivals in the Dallas Cowboys.  These two teams met earlier in the season, and the game resulted in a dominating performance by the Eagles, which led to a 34-7 win for them.  After that loss though, the Cowboys hit a four game winning streak, while the Eagles went on to lose four of their next five games.  That about sums up why these two teams are where they are at now, with the Cowboys at 8-6 overall and in first place in the NFC East, and the Eagles at 6-8 and just hoping to find a way to get into the playoffs by winning their final two games.

The first game between these teams was painful for Cowboys fans, but the one key thing that they have to be excited about right now is how well quarterback Tony Romo is playing.  To top it off, the Cowboys get to play this one at home, which should be a huge help to a team who could potentially clinch the NFC East this weekend if they win and the New York Giants lose to the Jets as well.

There are quite a few interesting match-ups to keep your eye on in this game, and the amount of talented players on both sides of the ball could keep you on the edge of your seat consistently.  The things that I’ll be watching for are Lesean McCoy and Michael Vick against Demarcus Ware and the Cowboys defense, as well as Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Jason Witten, and Laurent Robinson against that Eagles secondary.  This game will kick off at 4:15pm EST and should be one of the best games of the entire NFL season to this point.

Odds and Sports Betting Line

Philadelphia Eagles: +1.5

Dallas Cowboys: -1.5

The Cowboys will be out for revenge in this one after losing in embarrassing fashion on the road earlier this year to the Eagles.  Both teams seem to be pretty healthy aside from the Cowboys losing running back Demarco Murray, so look for these offenses to have solid days as well.  Felix Jones has done a very good job as the starting running back since Murray went down, and I think that he and Romo will do enough to pull off the win at home against a talented Eagles team.

Prediction:  Dallas Cowboys- 31 Philadelphia Eagles- 27

Free Pick

I do like the fact that the line is low for the home team in this one.  This is a big game for the Cowboys, who would definitely love to avoid playing for the NFC East title on the road in Giants’ stadium if at all possible.  While beating the Eagles won’t lock this up for them, it’ll put them in a direction to do so as long as the Jets get a big win over the G-Men up in New York.  I’m picking the Dallas Cowboys to win and get the cover here as well.

Pick:  Dallas Cowboys -1.5

Week 15 NFL Betting: Detroit Lions vs. Oakland Raiders Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Detroit Lions

This is one of the most interesting match-ups of the weekend here, as the Detroit Lions head on the road to take on the Oakland Raiders.  The Lions are currently looking to hold on to a Wild Card spot in the NFC, while the Oakland Raiders are looking to regain form after losing two games in a row and being overtake for the lead in the AFC West.  They’ll need to get back to their winning ways in order to catch Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos for the divisional lead.  Now, this match-up is obviously huge heading into the final two weeks of the season, as the Lions are sitting at 8-5 overall, and the Raiders are 7-6 overall.  The Lions won last week after losing three of their last four, and looking like they were in serious danger of falling out of playoff contention.

The Raiders on the other hand looked to have turned a corner after Carson Palmer and company had pulled off three straight wins, but they could be in trouble if they can’t turn it around right now at home.  This game is crucial, and fortunately for Oakland it’ll be played in their home stadium.  One of the most interesting match-ups to watch here will be Matthew Stafford against the Raiders defense, and also the Raiders running game against the Lions front line.

This game will kick off at 4:05pm and will be a great betting option!

Odds and Sports Betting Line

Detroit Lions: -1

Oakland Raiders: +1

What a game here, and it’s not surprising at all that this one is almost a pick.  The Lions looked solid last week, but still have quite a bit to prove in order to show that they are in the elite of the NFL.  The Raiders on the other hand, well, they have a lot to show in general before anyone can consider them a playoff team, and say that they have a shot to knock off the Broncos.  I think that it’ll be a close one, but that the Lions are going to take over when it matters and pull out a nice win on the road to put themselves one step closer to a 2011 Playoff berth.  I’m going with the Lions by a touchdown on the road.

Prediction:  Detroit Lions- 27 Oakland Raiders- 20

Free Pick

I assumed this one would be around a pick, and -1 for the road team sounds just about spot on.  While I think that the Raiders are going to come out strong, this Lions team just seems to have whatever “it” is this season, and I think that they are going to be playoff bound, and also cause some problems in the playoffs as well.  I think the Raiders could actually have the lead for a good amount of the game, but Stafford, and Calvin Johnson are going to get the job done when it matters most, in the 4th quarter.  I’m picking the Detroit Lions to get the win and the cover here.

Pick:  Detroit Lions -1
