NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting: Dallas Cowboys vs. San Diego Chargers

In the second exhibition game for both teams, the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers will square off Saturday night. The Cowboys and Chargers will start at 9:00pm EST live from Qualcomm Stadium in beautiful San Diego. Dallas is 1-0 in the pre-season, after blanking the Oakland Raiders 3-0 in week one. The Chargers come into the game following their 21-13 win last Thursday over the Green Bay Packers.

The Dallas Cowboys used Kyle Orton, Stephen McGee and Tony Romo in their opener. Romo, the starting quarterback was the least effective of the three, passing for just 30 yards. The offense was Dan Bailey with a 33 yard field goal in the third quarter. The defense for Dallas forced Oakland to turn the ball over twice in the win. The Cowboys are coming off an 8-8 season, in which they did not make the playoffs, finishing a game behind the New York Giants.

For San Diego, they are in a make or break season. Head coach Norv Turner has the pressure on to get into the postseason and make noise this year. The Chargers got bad news last week when they lost Ryan Matthews to an injury on his first carry. San Diego got good news when they saw Antonio Gates appear healthy, and back to his dominate form at tight end. The Chargers finished behind the Broncos for the divisional title in 2011.

Dallas Cowboys +3

San Diego Chargers -3

The Chargers will look to bounce back after losing their top offensive weapon. Look for the replacements for San Diego to come out strong in this one. Anytime you play at home, you want the home fans to see you play well. Look for San Diego to come away with a pre-season win in this one and move to 2-0.

Prediction:  San Diego Chargers 21-14

Free Pick

We like the San Diego Chargers to cover this spread. Pre-season games are difficult, but this is one we like a lot. San Diego is pretty good in their own environment, and the Cowboys are still looking to shake the cob-webs off for the season. Take the San Diego Chargers by a field goal.

Pick:  San Diego Chargers -3

NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting: New York Giants vs. New York Jets Odds, Prediction and Pick

The New York Giants and New York Jets will get together on Saturday August 18th, 2012 at MetLife Stadium in a battle of the Big Apple. The Giants and Jets will kick-off at 7:00pm EST. The Giants are the defending Super Bowl Champions, but are coming off a loss to Jacksonville in the pre-season opener. The Jets have been talked about plenty this pre-season, with the addition of quarterback Tim Tebow. Rex Ryan’s crew failed to make the postseason last year, and started the pre-season off rocky with a 17-6 loss to Cincinnati.

The Giants scored 31 points in their pre-season opener. Eli  Manning threw for 60 yards, and then was replaced by Ryan Perriloux and then later David Carr. The big offensive threat for the Giants in the opener was D.J. Ware, who ran for a touchdown. New York’s defense allowed the Jaguars over 300 yards and 32 points; something that was addressed by Coach Coughlin during the week.

Rex Ryan’s bunch got just two field goals in the loss to the Bengals. Both Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez were relatively ineffective combining for just under 50 yards on 14 passes. The Jets used rookie Greg McElroy for a few snaps as well. The Jets also turned the ball over twice in the loss. Look for the Jets offense to open up the play book a little more in their second pre-season game. They have games with Carolina and Philadelphia left in the pre-season.

New York Giants: +1.5

New York Jets -1.5

This should be an interesting game. We feel that both teams will want to win this game for the support of the fans. Sure, starters will not play all game, but look for Coughlin and Ryan to put their best players on the field quite a bit. In the end, we feel the Jets will have more to prove and come away with a narrow pre-season victory over the Giants.

Prediction:  New York Jets 24-21

Free Pick

This is a good line to set. The Jets are just a small favorite. It’s very difficult to bet on pre-season football, but we like this pick quite a bit. The Jets come away with a win, and cover the small spread by beating the Giants by a field goal.

Pick:  New York Jets -1.5

Super Bowl Betting: New England Patriots vs. New York Giants Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Super Bowl

And the day is finally here ladies and gentleman.  We finally have our match-up for the Super Bowl after one of the most interesting NFL seasons in recent history.  And if it seems like this one seems familiar, well, we are sure that you are looking back to 2008 when the New York Giants pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history when they beat the then –undefeated New England Patriots in the big game.

These two teams made their run to this point in pretty different fashions, as the Giants had to win in week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys to make it to the playoffs at all, while the New England Patriots had their playoff spot locked in long before this.  This doesn’t mean that these two teams are all that different though, as they actually have similar strengths.

The Giants and Patriots both have excellent passing games, solid running games that won’t normally blow you away, and strong defensive lines.  The biggest issue for both teams though?  That would be their secondaries.  This game could really come down to which secondary is able to make the big play when it matters most, and I think that that all of this adds up to one of the best Super Bowls in history, mainly because all of the hype is surrounding the offense of both teams!

The Super Bowl is set to kick off on February 5th at 6:30pm EST, and will be played in Indianapolis, home of the Colts.  Most importantly though, the sports betting lines have been released, and we already have our free pick and prediction in on the biggest sporting event out there.

Odds and Sports Betting Line

New York Giants: +2.5

New England Patriots: -2.5

So do you ride with the team who pulled off one of the most incredible upsets in Super Bowl history, or the team who still has that loss in the back of their minds, and also has one of the best quarterbacks in history?  I really like the Patriots in this one, mainly because of how this team seems to just consistently put up results.  On top of that though, don’t forget that their loss to the Giants was only four years ago, and Tom Brady and Bill Belichick may not say it out loud, but that definitely stuck with them.  The Patriots passing game of Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker, and Aaron Hernandez is going to cause all sorts of issues for this Giants secondary, so I’m going to ride with the Patriots to pull off a close win in this year’s Super Bowl.

Prediction: New England Patriots- 28 New York Giants- 24

Free Pick

This has been one of the more interesting Super Bowl lines, as it first came out and started around -3.5 for the Patriots, but has moved towards the Giants.  I was close on it at -3.5, but I love the bet at -2.5 for New England.  I’m going to be picking the New England Patriots to get the win, and also the cover.

Pick:  New England Patriots -2.5
