Week 14 Betting: Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Cincinnati Bengals

This weekend we have a match-up between two teams who are in the middle of a cluttered playoff picture in the AFC right now.  The Houston Texans have been one of the darlings of the NFL this season, and have an incredibly impressive 9-3 record.  They’ve had some issues though even with that record, as they have lost both their starting and back-up quarterbacks, Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart to injuries, defensive end Mario Williams to injury, and wide out Andre Johnson to injury as well.  Even with their depleted roster, they still knocked off the Atlanta Falcons last week, and this team will hope to keep on winning all the way to the playoffs, and also hope that they can hold off the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South.  They’ll have TJ Yates starting once again this week, and he’ll need to protect the ball this weekend on the road.

The Cincinnati Bengals on the other hand have been pretty impressive as well.  And what makes it even more impressive is that they’ve posted a 7-5 record with a rookie quarterback and rookie wide out as well in Andy Dalton and AJ Green.  Also, it’s nice to have Cedric Benson running the ball for you.  The Bengals are currently in the playoffs as a wild card, but have three teams hot on their tail, so they’ll definitely need to win some key games down the stretch.  Cincinnati was supposed to be in the midst of a rebuilding year, but you can bet that the whole city is ecstatic that the team has been able to turn it around much quicker than expected.

Odds and Sports Betting Line

Houston Texans: +3

Cincinnati Bengals: -3

This is going to be a tough game for the Texans here.  The Bengals really need to win this one for their playoff hopes, especially with so many teams right behind them.  I think that both teams are solid, and could really cause some damage come playoff time, but the real problem I see here is the Texans offense.  They looked good at home last week, but can they do the same thing on the road against another strong team?  I think that their offense will have some issues against the Bengals defense, and I also like AJ Green to have a big day for the home team.  I’m going to take the Bengals to get the crucial home win by a touchdown.

Prediction:  Cincinnati Bengals- 24 Houston Texans- 17

Free Pick

I’m not surprised that the Bengals are favored here, and -3 sounds about right, but I think that people aren’t taking into consideration the injury issues that are going on in Houston.  I definitely see them as a playoff team, but this game will go to Cincinnati, and I definitely can’t see them winning by less than three points either.  I’m riding the home team, and I expect the Cinci defense to get their job done as well to make the offenses job a bit easier.  I’m picking Cincinnati here.

Pick:  Cincinnati Bengals -3

NFL Week 14 Betting: Chicago Bears vs. Denver Broncos Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Denver Broncos

What an interesting match-up we have here.  The Chicago Bears have now lost quarterback Jay Cutler, AND running back Matt Forte, which is a very unfortunate swing for a team who was playing incredibly well before the injuries hit.  The Bears are now 7-5 and have lost two in a row, including a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week in which they scored only three points for the entire game.  Quarterback Caleb Hanie simply hasn’t been able to get the job done, and the team will need more from him in order to get back into the talks of realistic teams for the NFC’s Wild Card.  While the team is currently in the Wild Card, they definitely aren’t a favorite after the injuries.  The Bears will look to Hanie, Marion Barber, and their strong defense to keep the season alive, and it starts this week against a hot Denver Broncos team.

What can we say about the FIRST PLACE Denver Broncos?  Well, two words about sum it, Tim Tebow.  Tebow has been sensational and has done an excellent job of not turning the ball over during their five game winning streak.  This Broncos team is now 7-5 and are serious contenders to not only make the playoffs, but to make some noise come playoff time as well.  It’s tough to beat a team like the Broncos who don’t turn the ball over and play incredibly strong defense as well.  Denver looks to keep their win streak going at home this week, and the game will kick off at 4:05pm EST.

Odds and Sports Betting Line

Chicago Bears: +3.5

Denver Broncos: -3.5

Free Prediction

I’m not sure if everyone is buying into the Denver Broncos yet, but I know that I am.  This team is for real, and they’ll be in the playoffs this year.  I refuse to bet against Tim Tebow in the clutch, and we are in the late stretch of the season in which everything will be decided.  The Bears haven’t looked like the Bears since losing Jay Cutler, and I don’t expect that to change this week on the road against a Denver defense which is hitting on all cylinders right now.  I’ll take the Broncos to get the job done, and Tebow to have another strong all around day this weekend.  Broncos by a touchdown here to move to 8-5 and hold on to first place in the AFC West.

Prediction:  Denver Broncos- 21 Chicago Bears- 14

Free Pick

The Bears went into last week’s game at home against a 4-7 Chiefs team as -7.5 point favorites, and lost by 7.  This week, they are +3.5 on the road to a team that is better than the Chiefs in my opinion.  I’d like to say that the Bears could turn it around and save their season, but it’ll be tough against a quarterback who isn’t making many mistakes, and also the fact that their offense has failed to do much of anything.  All this adds up to me picking the Denver Broncos here at home to win and cover the -3.5.

Pick:  Denver Broncos -3.5

Week 13 NFL Betting: Denver Broncos vs. Minnesota Vikings Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Denver Broncos

The Tim Tebow show rolls on this weekend, as the Denver Broncos head to Minnesota to take on the Vikings.  The Broncos are riding an incredible win streak thanks in part to quarterback Tim Tebow.  The offense has made some serious changes to play towards Tebow’s strengths, and no player in the NFL has the will to win like Tebow does.  Their four game win streak will be on the line against a Vikings team who is on a three game winning streak, and has only posted two wins this entire season.  The team is in a bit of a rebuilding phase right now, and rookie quarterback Christian Ponder is definitely going through a learning curve.  The Panthers have also been playing without star running back Adrian Peterson thanks to an injury.

While the Broncos have won four games in a row, it hasn’t always been pretty.  Their last two wins have come by a combined four points, BUT those were against the Jets and Chargers, both teams who had high hopes when the season began.  The Vikings are going to need some help this week at home, but they do come into the game favored.  This game will be played in Minnesota, so the Vikings do have the home field advantage, and it will kick off at 1:00pm EST.  Can Tim Tebow work his magic once again and keep his 6-5 Broncos in the Playoff hunt?  The way that the first place Oakland Raiders have been playing lately, they will definitely need to keep on the winning track for the remainder of the season to catch up.

Odds and Sports Betting Line

Denver Broncos: +1

Minnesota Vikings: -1

I’d love to put out some crazy stats which would help me put up an argument for the Minnesota Vikings here, but to put it simply, I just can’t bet against Tim Tebow here.  The guy just knows how to win, and he does it when it counts.  Betting against him in a situation is basically asking for trouble.  Of course, it makes life a bit easier when the Vikings are 2-9, and are in contention for a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.  I think that the Broncos get the job done here thanks to another strong fourth quarter.

Prediction:  Denver Broncos- 27 Minnesota Vikings- 21

Free Pick

I really am not sure as to why the Vikings are favored here, but I’d assume that it has something to do with the fact that they are at home, and that the Broncos seem to consistently be playing close games week in and week out.  John Fox has a good game plan for this Broncos team though, and I think this will be a pick before game time, and it could potentially even have the Broncos favored in the end.  Get on this one early, and I’ll be picking the Denver Broncos to get the win and the cover here on the road.  We can thank Tim Tebow once again it seems!

Pick:  Denver Broncos +1
